Stamford Centre Library Updates

We are currently working on revitalizing the new Stamford Centre Library. The project aims to significantly expand the library, creating a more accessible and inclusive space for the community.

We’re excited to announce that the updated Stamford Centre library will reopen on Tuesday, April 2.

The in-progress photos you see were taken on January 24, 2024. These shelves may end up in a different spot and they will be full of library materials by the time the library opens.

Decreased budgets and rising costs mean we need more help than ever before. Donations from individuals and businesses will help cover the costs of the necessary renovations and revitalization of the new Stamford Centre Library location.

The renovated Stamford Centre Library will be over 2,000 square feet larger than our previous space. It will be a welcoming, accessible and inclusive space for everyone in our community as it will be a single-level facility with an open plan. There will be spaces for adults, children and teens with a large community meeting and program room as well as private study rooms.

This project is funded in part by the Government of Canada as part of the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.

Recent Updates

  • March 21, 2024
    Stamford Centre will reopen on Tuesday, April 2 at 9am. A grand opening event will take place on Saturday, June 15 at 11am. Details to come.
    Over $386,000 has been raised for the project - 77% of our fundraising goal.
  • January 9, 2024
    There's just $150,294 left to raise until we hit our fundraising goal. Construction is now 90% complete.
  • November 13, 2023
    We've hit 68% of our fundraising goal - $155,550 away from our $500,000 goal. Construction is 80% complete and we are still on track for an early 2024 opening date.
  • April 27, 2023
    Construction of the Stamford Centre library location began in March 2023. The targeted opening date is early 2024.

    NFPL awarded Bromac Construction Inc the Construction Contract.
  • December 2022
    NFPL awarded Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) to multiple suppliers.
  • September 2022
    Through the RFPQ process, prospective bidders were qualified and shortlisted.
  • January 2022
    NFPL awarded the design consulting services to DPAI Architecture Inc.
