Description  A black and white version of the famous painting of this War of 1812 battle ; American troops are shown crossing the Niagara River at the Village of Queenston in at least ten small row boats ; other troops line the American bank of the River ; small houses in the village of Queenston (bottom right) ; British troops are lined up on the Canadian side of the river and can be seen on the hill (called the Heights) in the background right ;
Notes  The original art work attributed to Major James B Dennis (a participant in the battle) is owned by RiverBrink Art Museum ; it was drawn a year later from memory ca 1814;

Notes  The date imprinted on the postcard is incorrect. The Battle of Queenston Heights was October 13th, 1812.

Notes  Although card was never mailed it is dated July 13th Sunday, no year is given, message reads "Dear Mother, I went to Queenston last night, we had very bad electrical storm which cleared off about 10:30. I slept at the dock on some form and left there at 4 am. I bummed a ride into St Catharines 15 miles and had breakfast. left at 8 am for Niagara Falls and bum another ride. I have spent all day here and am now satisfied that there is no work on the Niagara Peninsula. The monument you see here we passed three times right on the heights. To-night I am sleeping in" message ends incomplete ;

Notes  In 1929, during a severe storm, one of the outstretched arms of General Brock was severed. In addition the head and shoulders of the statue and the upper part of the torso were almost shattered by lightning. Extensive repairs were begun the following year. One section of the statue was completely renewed, the whole shaft pointed to make it weather proof, lightning arresters were installed and a new railing placed at the top of the column" This description is from the Review
