Title  Ice breaker in the frozen upper Niagara River Type  Still Image Creator  Ward, Vernon Rae Collection  Niagara Falls Public Library Digital Collections Description  The upper Niagara is totally ice bound ; an ice breaker (centre) is attempting to break up the ice ; Notes  This is one of the last years that such massive ice formed in the river ; at the end of 1964 the ice boom was introduced ; we are making an assumption that this is an ice breaker, we have been unable to verify the colour of these boats in the 1960's ;   Information received when the image was scanned indicated the location as the Upper Niagara River ; one other person has come forward saying that he believes the location to be the Lower Niagara River below Queenston ; Created  1964.
