How to play

The first thing you need to do before you start to play the accordion is sit down in an armless, preferably straight-back chair. Then you need to slip on the shoulder straps so that the accordion is secure and won’t fall if you lose your grip. Do not attempt to play the accordion without sitting down and securing the shoulder straps.

Next, you need to unbutton the bellows strap. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to open the bellows. Now you’re ready to start making music!

Here are a few helpful tips to keep in mind when playing the accordion:

  • When opening the bellows, try not to push or pull with unnecessary force. A gentle in and out movement is all that is required for a great sound.

  • Do not pull the bellows without pushing any button because that can damage the reeds inside and cause the accordion to go out of tune.

Transportation and storage instructions

Always transport the accordion in its carrying case. The accordion case is designed to fit snugly, so please handle it with care when removing or inserting the instrument.

Do not store the accordion in very cold or hot environments. Keep the instrument away from direct sunlight, heaters, radiators and A/C units.

Do not leave the instrument in a hot, humid car or outside on snowy or wet ground. This type of treatment may cause the wooden parts of the accordion to warp and the bellows to crack or swell.

Care instructions

To clean and maintain the accordion keyboard and body, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth and nothing else!

The accordion is a very complex instrument. Please do not attempt to open it or clean the insides yourself. Accordions should only be tuned and/or repaired by experienced professionals.
