Books
Adult
- We have a wide selection of Adult Fiction and Adult Nonfiction books ranging from new and popular titles to lesser-known works and literary classics
- The Graphic Novel collection is constantly growing and contains manga, graphic fiction, personal narratives, and non-fiction material
- Large Print books are available for customers with reduced vision
- Our Self-Published authors section at the Victoria Avenue Library demonstrates the writing talent across the Niagara region
- We own an ever-growing historical and genealogical collection; visit the Local History Collection for more information
- Reference material on a wide range of subjects is available to use in the library
Teens & Children
- Teens have a devoted selection of books in the library at each location
- We have an excellent collection of Juvenile Fiction and Juvenile Nonfiction
- Kids love our Juvenile Graphic Novels featuring characters like Spiderman and Pikachu
- Our Easy Readers are leveled to help children learn to read at a pace that’s comfortable for them
- The library has Picture Books that are sure to pique your child's imagination
- The Board Book collection is always a favourite with the little ones and gets them interested in reading from the start.
Book Club Kits
If you're interested in hosting your own book club, the library offers a number of Book Club Kits that you can borrow. The kits include anywhere between 10 and 18 copies of a title, so that every member of your book club can read the same book at the same time! Multilingual and ESL
Niagara Falls Public Library is proud to offer books and DVDs for both adults and children in a number of different languages. Our largest multilingual collection is made up of French material to encourage the community to learn Canada's other official language. Our other language collections include Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Panjabi/Punjabi, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Urdu and Vietnamese.
We are also proud to offer a collection devoted to customers learning English as a second language. Our ESL material includes spelling and grammar guides, dictionaries, easy reads for a range of interests and proficiencies, and workbooks for tests like IELTS and TOEFL.

partnership with the Niagara Falls Public Library, have selected titles
for each grade level that feature representations of racial, cultural,
religious, ability, sexual and gender diversity.

Wi-Fi Hotspots
The Kajeet Smartspot V400/055 is a portable internet device that you can borrow from the library to provide free internet access to Wi-Fi enabled smartphones, tablets, and PCs. These Hotspots are meant for educational use and there are built-in restrictions. Blocked sites include: criminal and 18+ content; high bandwidth or popular consumer sites and app traffic (streaming services, noneducational games, text/pic/video chat sites, etc.); social media sites; and various protocol and security risks such as proxies, P2P, IPSEC VPN, etc. Kajeet also makes use of Google Safesearch and Youtube Restricted Mode. The Hotspot can be borrowed on an adult library card for up to 1 week. This is a pilot project. Borrowing and use parameters may change in the future.
Chromebook Lending
Chromebooks are now available for public use at the Victoria, Community Centre and Chippawa libraries during open hours. More Details
LaunchPads
LaunchPads are available to borrow across all library locations. LaunchPads are tablets preloaded with themed content such as videos, games, puzzles, and comics for kids aged 3-13. They're designed with a simple, easy-to-use interface and they're 100% secure. Best of all there's no download time, no need for an Internet connection, and all you have to do to access the content is turn the device on - anytime, anywhere!
Outdoor Equipment
The library has several pieces of outdoor equipment available for customers to borrow. At the moment, we have hiking poles, crampons, snowshoes, and binoculars. Each of these items can be checked out for one week with up to two additional one week renewals (barring other holds). Please click here for more information.
Light Therapy Lamps
The library has light therapy lamps available to borrow. Each lamp can be checked out for one week with up to two additional one week renewals (barring other holds). They’re perfect for injecting a bit of sunshine into your life! Please click here for more information.
Nature Kits
Get ready to explore the beautiful outdoors with a Nature Kit from the Niagara Falls Public Library. These kits are available to borrow from any of our 4 locations and are aimed at children aged 4-10 (parental supervision advised). Each kit includes tools like a compass, a magnifying glass, a set of coloured pencils, and a booklet with instructions and activity suggestions, among other things. The Nature Kits also come in clear adjustable backpacks so that you can easily take them with you on your next adventure! Funded by the Niagara Healthy Kids Community Challenge.
Board Games
You can borrow board games from any of our 4 locations with your library card. We have a selection of over 60 titles ranging from family classics like Scrabble and Jenga to Spiel des Jahres winners like Settlers of Catan and Machi Koro. Board Games are a great way to reduce screen time and interact face-to-face with family and friends. They also help build important skills like comprehension, problem solving, and literacy. Most importantly though, playing board games is a sure way to have a whole lot of fun! Funded by the Niagara Healthy Kids Community Challenge.
Seed To Seed
NFPL is growing! Check out our collection of free seeds, plant your own vegetable garden, then donate seeds back to the library from your harvest. Click here for more information!
Indigenous Collection
Come visit our Indigenous Collection at the Victoria Avenue Library, created in partnership with Ignite the Spirit of Education Foundation Inc. and GoodMinds. It includes books and DVDs for all audiences with material by and about Indigenous Peoples of North America. It places special emphasis on First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada.
Audio Material
Music CDs featuring a huge selection of different artists and genres are available throughout the library system. We also offer Audiobook CDs and Playaways. Audiobook CDs, also known as talking books, and Playaways are audio recordings made by professional actors who read the text of books aloud. They can be a great alternative to music and can be listened to while performing other tasks, such as housework, exercise, or driving.
DVDs and Blu-Rays
Both DVDs and Blu-Rays are available for our customers to borrow. We have movies for all age groups and you can check them out for one week with the option to renew them up to 2 times. Enjoy recently released movies, older classics, indie flicks, award winners, favourite TV series, or a wide variety of documentaries - the choice is yours. We truly have something for everyone!
Video Game Consoles
Customers can borrow Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite video game consoles from the library. The Nintendo Switch is a full console that can be hooked up to a screen or played as a handheld device. The Nintendo Switch Lite is the handheld version of the console only. Both consoles are compatible with Nintendo Switch video game cartridges, which are also available for customers to borrow from the library.

Video Games
At the Niagara Falls Public Library you can borrow video games for several different gaming systems including PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. We also have an older selection of games for the PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and WiiU consoles.
Newspapers
Newspapers are available daily to read in-house. While publication holdings vary across our 4 locations, each location offers access to the Niagara Falls Review.
Parks Permits
We have partnered with Ontario Parks to lend out day-use vehicle permits, which will provide free day-use access to all Ontario Provincial Parks. One pass is good for a day-use entry for all occupants in the vehicle (excluding buses). The permit can be used at any of the more than 100 parks where fees are collected.
