COVID-19 Response
The Niagara Falls Public Library temporarily closed our doors at all four locations on Friday, March 13th 2020 until April 5th 2020. This was our immediate response to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and align with provincial measures to support social distancing. The health and well-being of our staff, customers, and community members is a priority and immediate action was taken. It was a very difficult decision to make because we know that the Library is a vibrant Community Hub. We understand how much our community depends on us for dynamic programs, services and resources.
All programs, meetings, room rentals, and service deliveries are cancelled. All library return boxes will be unavailable until April 6th. Please keep all library materials until that time. No fines will be charged while the library is closed.
Please understand that we made this decision in an effort to help flatten the curve and prioritize the health and well-being of all members in our community. We continue to work with the City of Niagara Falls, the Region and Local, Provincial and Federal Governments in an effort to ensure the health and safety of all our citizens.
The Government of Ontario has now mandated public library closures. We know that more difficult decisions will have to be made in the coming days and weeks, as the situation evolves daily, we will continue to reassess our scheduled reopening on April 6th 2020. Please visit our website and social media for updates and information as it becomes available and for credible and authentic information resources.
In the meantime, the Niagara Falls Public Library still has our 24/7 electronic resources available. You still have access to ebooks, e-audio books, magazines, newspapers, streaming movies and shows. We encourage you to log on and make use of our vast and abundant online resources. Please visit our website at https://my.nflibrary.ca/ for information about accessing these resources.
Please listen to the advice and directives from our leading Medical Professionals, such as practicing social distancing, and handwashing. Please stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. For more information on COVID-19 you can also contact Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 and/or the Niagara Covid-19 Info-Line 905-688-8248 ext. 7019, Toll-free: 1-888-505-6074.
We are all in this together, and together we can flatten the curve and keep our staff, friends, families and community members safe.
Stay safe and healthy,
Niagara Falls Public Library Board
