Click to view a larger image Peter Fiorentino had an exceptional Minor Hockey career while playing for the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey travel teams. Peter played one season with the Niagara Falls Canucks Junior “B” Team, when we was just 16 years old. The following four years he was a stalwart on defence while playing for the Sault Saint Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League (O.H.L.). The New York Rangers of the National Hockey League selected Peter as their 11th pick in the 1988 draft. His professional career began that same year as a very strong, aggressive, six foot one-inch, 205 pound defenceman. Peter played in the International Hockey League for teams in Denver Colorado, Flint Michigan and Las Vegas Nevada. Most notably, he had seven illustrious seasons playing for Binghamton, New York in the American Hockey League. While in Binghamton, Peter established records for the most number of games played (421) and most penalty minutes (1,659). He was inducted into Binghamton’s Hockey Hall of Fame in 2003. Peter had many loyal fans that meant so much to him, but, until his retirement, did not fully realize what a great privilege it was to perform for them. He was astonished that he impacted so many people’s lives, even for the short period of time that he played his favourite sport. |
