     Carol Ann began her skating career on the outdoor ice at Lundy’s Lane Fire Hall. When Stamford Arena opened in 1950, Carol was one of the first skaters to take to the ice under the tutelage of Rita (Sturch) Payne. Thus, began a successful figure skating career as a singles skater as well as a pairs skater. As a single, Carol Ann placed third at the Western Ontario Senior Ladies Championship in 1958. She then proceeded to the Canadian Championships held in Ottawa where she placed in the top ten in Canada.
     Carol Ann’s pairs partner was Bill Neale under the coaching of Wally Distelmeyer. They were crowned Western Ontario Champions in 1958 and then captured a bronze medal only two and a half points behind the winners at the Canadian Championships. When the Shipstead and Johnson “Ice Follies” appeared in Buffalo, Carol Ann auditioned and was signed on to skate with the touring show. After a successful career she returned home, married her husband Bob, and raised a family of three children. She then began to focus her talents on coaching at the Stamford Skating Club. For 15 years she touched the lives of young and old skaters and was recognized by her peers as a "successful coach". The achievements of Carol Ann in her skating and coaching career have made her a worthy addition to the Niagara Falls Sports Wall of Fame.
