Click to view a larger version of the plaque Angelo Giajnorio, affectionately known as ‘Ange’ to everyone in the sports community, started his coaching career in 1965 with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51. Subsequently, Ange joined the original Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association as an assistant coach to Louis Galardi, in the Lincoln Trust “AA” Division. In 1974, Ange became Head Coach of the “AA” Peewee Team and was elected to the executive for the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey League (N.F.M.H.L). In 1981, Ange partnered with Doug Sauer and the Stamford Lions Club to run the Annual Atom Hockey Tournament until 1998. Ange acted as convener for Novice to Midget House League Teams, as well as coach for the “AAA” Midget Hockey Team. In addition, Ange was the liaison contact person for the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association (N.F.M.H.A.) between the South Central Triple “A” League and the Niagara District Hockey League. Ange has the distinction of being a lifetime member of the N.F.M.H.A. For the past 10 years, Ange has been a volunteer with the Niagara Falls Canucks Junior “B” Team. He remains involved with Canucks Junior “B” Team, the Niagara Falls Minor Hockey Association and the Niagara District Girl’s Hockey League. In addition to all of his contributions to hockey, Ange was involved with Niagara Falls Minor Baseball as the Peewee House League convenor and coached travel baseball in 1979. Ange has dedicated an enormous amount of hours to minor sports in Niagara Falls and has had a positive influence on the maturing of many young athletes from our city. |
