Full size image of plaque Jay is an all-around athlete from a very athletic family. In 1974, Jay was a member of the Canadian midget Baseball Championship Team. Jay received special recognition in 1980 for his athletic achievements from the City of Niagara Falls for his participation on the Canadian Olympic Basketball Team. Jay was an 11 year member of the Canadian Olympic Team and the Captain and leading scorer for 8 years. Jay was the all-time leading scorer at Simon Fraser University and in 1981, his number was retired. Jay represented Canada in Men's Basketball in the World University Games in 1979-81-83-85. The team won the gold medal in 1983 and the bronze in 1985. Jay also played on the Brewster, Washington Team which was a three time United States A.A.U. National Champion. In Ontario, Jay played on the Estonia Senior Mens' Team, which won the Canadian Senior title in 1985. Jay was drafted in 1981 both by the Los Angeles Lakers of the N.B.A. and the Calgary Stampeders of the C.F.L. In 1982, Jay was the Niagara Falls Athlete of the Year. jay Triano - an outstanding basketball player - an outstanding citizen of Niagara Falls. |
