Full size image In 1976, the Stamford Centre Volunteer Fireman's Association Bantam baseball team had a banner year. Coached by the late Tom Newton, this group of young men had a season that most other teams only dream about. The season consisted of Provincial Tournament wins in Stratford, Burlington, and Toronto, as well as runner up placement in the Scarborough event. In 1976, the Stamford Centre Volunteer Fireman's Association Bantam Baseball Team won 46 games, lost 7, and tied 1, capping off the season in September, beating Windsor two straight games to take the Provincial Crown, and proudly representing the City of Niagara Falls. |
