Men's Four Lawn Bowling Team 1965 In 1965, four local men won the Canadian Championship in the sport of Lawn Bowling. The team has been involved in their sport for a total accumulation of 120 years. The championship season of 1965 began with a victory at the club level in Niagara Falls. The team then travelled to Elora where they won the zone playdowns, allowing them to proceed to the provincial championship where they were successful in defeating a team from Leaside. This victory qualified the Niagara Falls team to enter the final championship event which was played in Edmonton, Alberta. The competition finals had Niagara Falls vs. British Columbia in a special play-off tie breaker. Niagara Falls was successful in defeating British Columbia for the Canadian National Championship. In 1965, the winning of a Canadian title was as far as a team could go. Niagara Falls was well represented by these four gentlemen, as they brought recognition to their sport of lawnbowling and to their City. |
