In the spring of 1980, the A.N. Myer Senior Boy's Soccer Team completed a very
successful season, by capturing the OFSAA Soccer Championships. The Marauders defeated the Stamford Hornets 4-0 to complete an undefeated regular season of 8 games.
At the SOSSA Championships in Hagersville, the A.N. Myer Marauders advanced to the finals to compete for the Championship against Dennis Morris. Following two overtime periods, the Marauders defeated Dennis Morris on the 6th extra penalty kick by Neil McLeod. Having claimed the SOSSA title, the Marauders earned a berth in the OFSSA Championships which were held in Toronto. Despite being regarded as underdogs and playing in the toughest division, A. N. Myer advanced to the finals with victories over Vanier, Danforth Tech, and Sir John A. MacDonald.
The Championship game, played at the CNE Stadium against W.D. Lowe of Windsor, was decided in the second overtime period, when a free kick from Mike Lapoyda was headed home by Keith Jenkins for the winning goal. With this victory, the A.N. Myer Marauders became the first soccer team from Niagara Falls to win an OFSSA title.
Following the victory, coach Martin Bissell commented, "We were successful because every player played at his fullest potential." The A.N. Myer Senior Boy's Soccer Team played with pride and determination for their school and for the City of Niagara Falls.
