The Olympic Games as we know them today have a long history that dates back to Antiquity. It all started in Greece, in the Peloponnese, some 3,000 years ago. Today they are promoted as a meeting place for people to come together in peace to respect universal moral principles. The very first Winter Olympics were hosted by Chamonoix in France in 1924.
