Dave McMahon is a full-time dog trainer who has operated Dave McMahon’s Dog Training Academy in Niagara Falls for 23 years.

His has just published a hundred page dog training manual called “Obedience Training for the Family Dog”.

Everyone is invited to meet Dave at the Victoria Avenue Library on Jan. 31 between 1 and 3pm. He will be pleased to give suggestions on how to teach dogs essential commands and answer your questions. Autographed copies of his book will be available for $20.

McMahon has been teaching at Niagara College since 1990. Dave McMahon's Dog Academy is also a Career School For Dog Trainers.

Borrow the popular book “Marley & me: life and love with the world's worst dog” by John Grogan. There is also a large print copy and a CD talking book available. He also wrote the children’s book “Marley : a dog like no other” and the children’s picture book “Bad dog, Marley”. Our many copies may be reserved on our website www.nflibrary.ca.

There are hundreds of children’s books and DVDs about dogs to delight youngsters of all ages.

There are books about different breeds, choosing a caring for a dog, grooming, dog biscuit and food cookbooks, dog health and fitness and many other topics.

Many rely on the “Dogs in Canada Annual” and “Dogfancy” magazine.

Just released is the DVD “The loved dog: basic behavior dog training methods for the whole family, quick, easy, and fun!”. Many enjoy the DVDs of the television program “Dog whisperer” and the “Clifford the Big Red Dog” DVDs and books.

Borrow books such as “Broadway tails : heartfelt stories of rescued dogs who became showbiz superstars” and “150 activities for bored dogs : surefire ways to keep your dog active and happy”.

A Dixie Hemingway detective and mystery novel called “Duplicity dogged the dachshund” is a favourite.
