The Library is open today (Dec 27) but will be closed on Dec. 28, Dec. 31 at 1pm and Jan. 1. Use the book return slots and visit anytime the library website www.nflibrary.ca to search the catalogue and databases, place reserves, renew your materials, pay fines and much more.
You can see what new books and other resources have just arrived at the library in the past week or two. Click on “search catalogue” on our website www.nflibrary.ca and then “what’s new”. You will see listings for new biographies, fiction, dvds, music CDs, mysteries, non-fiction, science fiction, talking books, teen fiction, bestsellers and children’s materials.
Check the website, come in, or telephone us to see what new films will be shown on Big Screen Tuesdays on Jan. 13 and Jan. 27 and learn about new topic “What is Reality?” at the next Philosopher’s Café discussion on Jan. 5.
Adults who borrow the paperback novel “Not Another New Year's” by Christine Ridgway will encounter a New Year’s adventure not to be forgotten.
The Teen Zone on our website has a online book discussion of Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” all day on Jan. 1. This zone also lists new materials to borrow including video games. Check out the library’s Facebook and MySpace sites.
The Kids’ Corner on the website lists all the new children’s programs starting again next month.
The Kids’ Quiz will delight children for an hour or two. It include everything from Nursery Rhymes to classical children's literature to popular material of the times.
For younger children, there are quizzes on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Dealing With Dragons, Dr Seuss and Nursery Rhymes.
For older children and teens, test yourself about First Lines from famous children's books. How well do you know Eragon, Lord Of The Rings, and Stephenie Meyer’s four books including Twilight?
General quiz questions include How much do you know about Canada?, What animal am I ?, Who or what am I? and Harry Potter Quizzes.
Just published this year is a little children’s book Happy New Year by Abbie Mercer which contains holiday's recipes and fun crafts projects recommended for youngsters’ celebrations.
The library staff and library board extend best wishes to all library users during 2009.
