Video games can now be borrowed free of charge at the Victoria Avenue Library. We currently have about 80 to choose from in four formats - Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3. More are on order.

Adult cards only can be used for a seven day loan period with a one week renewal if no one has placed a reserve. Only two games may be borrowed on one card. There is a $1 per day overdue fine.

Because of the small number available with the majority of games usually out of the library at any time, you are encouraged to reserve what you want on the catalogue of our website www.nflibrary.ca . They can be picked up at any of our four libraries.

Even though we have not publicized this new collection until now, video games are being borrowed about 170 times a month.

Until a sizable collection is established, the collection consists mainly of educational, role playing, family-entertainment and self-improvement titles.

Xbox 360 games include FIFA Soccer 08, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , Kung Fu Panda, Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, Lost, Madden NFL 08, NBA live 08, NHL 08, Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End, Shrek the Third, The Spiderwick Chronicles , Tiger Woods PGA tour 08 and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground.

Wii games include Brunswick Pro Bowling, The Chronicles of Narnia., Crash of the Titans, Disney Princess Enchanted Journey, Dragon Quest Swords, Fishing Master, Go Diego Go!, Hannah Montana Spotlight World Tour , High School Musical - Sing It!, Indianapolis 500 Legends, Major League Baseball and Sega Bass Fishing.

Playstation 2 games include The Chronicles of Narnia., Dance Dance Revolution , Dora the Explorer , Dragonball Z., Finding Nemo, Guitar Hero III , The Hobbit, Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol Encore , Shark Tale and The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie.

Playstation 3 games include All Pro Football, Iron Man , Lego Indiana Jones, MLB 08 the Show, NBA Live 08 and The Simpsons Game.

Many have borrowed the novels “Saga” by Conor Kostick , “Joyland” by Emily Schultz and “jPod” by Douglas Coupland. “The Nintendo Wii Pocket Guide” by Bart G. Farkas and “The Book of Games” are helpful books.

Borrow magazines such as “Gameinformer”, “EGM: Electronic Gaming Monthly”, “Games”, “nRevolution” and “PC Gamer”.

The Library will be closed Labour Day Monday and our regular hours will resume next week at all four libraries. Use the book return slots and visit anytime the library website www.nflibrary.ca to search the catalogue and databases, place reserves, renew your materials and much more.
