My wife and her girl friends and my daughter and her girl friends saw this summer’s popular movie “Sex in the City”. I didn’t see it but I know where to find related material - in the library!

We have two novels by “Sex in the City” author Candace Bushnell. One is “ Lipstick jungle” and the other is “Trading up”. Beautiful and successful New York single women looking for love are the themes once again. Borrow the library’s copies of the first six seasons of the hit television show “Sex in the City”.

Just published this year are novels about female friendships such as “Secrets of the Hollywood girls club” by Maggie Marr and “Lifelines” by C. J. Lyons which is about women physicians.

As three best friends approach the age of thirty, they agree to change their lives in the most personal and dramatic way possible in “Chasing Harry Winston” by Lauren Weisberger .

“Secrets of a shoe addict” by Beth Harbison finds three very different women bond when they find themselves in more than one kind of trouble. “Friday nights” by Joanna Trollope is about a group of women of various ages and from different walks of life who meet regularly on Friday evenings find that their friendship is tested when one of them begins a relationship with a man.

There are a number of recent novels about dating including Hester Browne’s “The little lady and the prince” and for teens “The other boy” by Hailey Abbott.

Helpful advice is found in “Dating for dads : the single father's guide to dating well without parenting poorly” by Ellie Slott Fisher, “The date book : a teen girl's complete guide to going out with someone new” by Erika Stalder, “Laws of the jungle : dating for women over 40" by Gloria MacDonald and “Sex and the single mom : the essential guide to dating, mating, and relating” by Sharon McKenna.

Enjoy novels about single life such as “Roommates wanted” by Lisa Jewell and “Which brings me to you” by Steve Almond and Julianna Baggott.

Interesting information is found in “Unhooked generation : the truth about why we're still single” by Jillian Straus, “Being single in a couples' world : how to be happily single while looking for love” by Xavier Amador and “Chicken soup for the single's soul : stories of love and inspiration for the single, divorced, and widowed” by Jack Canfield .
