It’s not too early to start thinking about March Break and registering the kids for the themed programs and activities staff have planned for the week at all our library sites. Consider signing them up for some creative and energetic programs at the Library. This year, our theme is "Make it, Take it, Shake it". How about making a great dragon mask to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. Need to shake off some winter blues? Try our Hip Hop class, come to a dance party, a Zumbatonic session or shaking it up in a Family Storytime. You can also make a cupcake cake, a painting, a paper butterfly, an iris folding seahorse or a spring candle creation. Laugh with the antics of Big Kid Entertainment and their hilarious production of Jack and the Beanstalk. You can thrill to the magic and juggling of Vaudeville Steve. For those of you in "Chillax mode" come to a free big screen showing of those charming tap dancing penguins or Shrek's favourite feline, at both the Victoria Avenue Library or the Chippawa Branch Library. Our March Break brochures are on the desk at all 4 locations or check us out on our website www.nflibrary.ca. Registration is required for all programs. Make the effort, take the time and shake off winter at your Library.
Registration for the Tax preparation programs for low income earners is underway and spaces are filling up. There are two programs offered – and participants must meet the income guidelines. The Institute of Chartered Accountants offer volunteers on Wednesday and Thursday evenings during February and March. The Canada Revenue Agency programs will be offered March 5th and 19th from 9 am – 2:30 pm. Call the library @ 905-356-8080 for information or to register. The first Big Screen Tuesday at Chippawa Branch Library is this week, February 21st at 6pm and features the film “Footloose “. The annual CBC Canada Reads “battle of the books” culminated last week with Carmen Aguirre’s “Something Fierce – memoirs of a revolutionary daughter” declared the winner. This year’s selections were all non fiction titles and all worth while reads. Copies of all titles are available in our libraries.
