We will be offering a movie series of some all time Christmas favourites beginning Saturday December 19 with "Nightmare before Christmas" at 2pm. From Monday through Wednesday of the following week, you can enjoy "It’s a Wonderful Life", "Polar Express" and "The Santa Claus", each afternoon at 2. On Tuesday evening at 7pm - White Christmas will be the special feature.
After Christmas beginning December 28, our daily films will be new releases including “9”, "Post Grad", "The Informant", and "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs". Showtime is again 2pm each day. For more information call the Library at 905-356-8080 or check the website www.nflibrary.ca. Admission is free, and all films will be shown in the LaMarsh Room at the Victoria Avenue Library.

Please join us for the second in our "Exploring World Cinema" series. On Sunday December 13th, we will be showing the French film "Amelie". This is the story of an innocent and naive girl in Paris, with her own sense of justice, who decides to help those around her and along the way, discovers love. This film was a People’s Choice Award winner at the Toronto Film Festival. Showtime is 2pm at the Victoria Avenue library. Admission is free. After the film, you may enjoy some of the new downtown establishments for discounted dining and beverages, with your admission receipt!
The Winter brochure insert for our Children’s programming guide has been published. It is now available at all Children’s Service desks and on the Children’s Corner page on our website. Sign up now for story times, crafts and events programming for the New Year. The next session begins January 4, 2010.
"Some of our favourite children's book characters have Christmas books this season. "Merry Christmas Splat" by Rob Scotton. Splat the Cat first appeared in 2008 and has charmed us in several books, particularly "Love, Splat" Fancy Nancy is back in a "Splendiforous Christmas." "Dora's Christmas Carol" features the popular TV character Dora the Explorer. Look for these and other seasonal favourites including "Moon and Star", "Olivia Helps with Christmas" and "Olive, the other Reindeer" on display at our four locations.
