For one day, Saturday, August 29th, and one day ONLY you can save money, help out Project Share and finally return those overdue Library books, DVDs, CDs, etc.without guilt! What a good day. It's Amnesty Day at all 4 Library locations. How does it work? Easy. Option 1: Return any overdue Library materials to any of our 4 locations and all fines will be waived. We assume that you will return the material back to us in good condition. Option 2: Bring a Food donation for Project Share and we will waive existing fines up to $10.00. For those of you that perpetually owe us $9.99, and you know who you are, this is a chance to start with a clean slate. No fines! What an incentive to clear up your bookshelves and return your material, and a great way to clean up your Library card! So, what's in it for the Library? We get back long overdue material that can now be put back on our Library shelves, which makes for better selection for you, our Library patrons. It's also a great way to assist local families during these tough economic times. Donations of food to our local community partner Project SHARE are down, so we can now fill our shelves and theirs. We clear up some of your fines and give back to the community.
Remember that the Library does have a generous loan period: most 3-week items can be renewed twice, free, before they become due. That’s 63 days! A quick phone call and we’ll check your account or you can renew your own material on our website at www.nflibrary.ca. If you don't have a PIN number to access your account on line, just call any Library location and we can issue you your personal PIN. As of September 1, the Library will require that all members clear up any outstanding fees and charges when renewing their Library cards. Why not take advantage of Amnesty Day this coming Saturday, August 29th? It's all day at any of our Library locations, in person only. Look for the Project SHARE bins. Even if you don’t have any library fines, we’d be happy to take your generous donations. See you Saturday.
Tuesday August 25, at 7pm, its Big Screen Tuesday in the LaMarsh Room at the Victoria Avenue Library with the latest Dan Brown feature, starring Tom Hanks, chasing down secret societies and unlocking mysteries within the Vatican. See our website or call the Library for more information.
When the Niagara Symphony did not run a 2009 summer music camp for adult beginners, again this year, some library staff and their friends decided to organize their own camp. They chose music, arranged rehearsals and lessons from professional musicians. They are truly a talented group of musicians, who you may have been entertained by before at other library functions. Their free “It's never too late” musical recital featuring the beginners and returnees from previous seasons will be held in the LaMarsh Room of the Victoria Avenue Library, Saturday August 29 from 2- 4pm. Light refreshments will be available.
