For the first time the public may register online at www.nfpl.library.on.ca for any of our popular children's programs. Just click on Programmes under Kid's Corner on the main screen to see a month by month list of all children's programs. You may choose to register your child online for programs held at any of our four libraries. We will hold your spot for 24 hours until you can come in to pay the registration fee at any location.

You may also telephone the libraries to register with the same 24 hours to pay in person. The new calendar format allows you to find a suitable morning, afternoon or evening to bring your child to great early literacy programming.

Some spaces are still available for the Cocoa Club program for those 8 years and older which begins this week at each library. This after school read-aloud chapter book series features great stories and hot chocolate.

Register soon to avoid disappointment for Jingle Bell Baby Time: Beginning with Books (12 months - 23 months); Holly Jolly Toddler Time (2 years old); and Sugar Plum Storytime (3-6 years old)

The new Funtastic Family Storytime is for children of all ages and parents. It is currently only available at the Victoria Avenue Library on the last Thursday evening of the month.

Children's Saturday Craft Programs at the four libraries are scheduled in the mornings and afternoons. Children can make Santa Cat wall hangings, a Santa photo frame, beaded bracelets, a gingerbread house and ornaments, gift bags and cards or a countdown calendar.

The annual Holiday Open House will be held at Stamford Branch on Nov. 24 from 1-4pm and at Chippawa Branch on Dec. 3 from 6-8pm. Both adults and children will enjoy making their own individual crafts with music and treats available. Advance registration is required for these free events.

Voting continues for the Debbie Zimmerman Early Years Niagara Literary Award for children's literature aimed at the 0-6 age group. Families are encouraged to borrow and read these books before voting online or by paper ballot at public libraries, Ontario Early Years Centres, and regional child care centres.
