You can learn about market research strategies for small businesses at the library. Seminars are scheduled for up to six people at a time in the library's computer training room. They are held in conjunction with the City of Niagara Falls Area Small Business Enterprise Centre. The seminars explore the resources that are offered through the Centre and the Library which are available to people setting up small businesses. Pre-registration is required by calling the Centre at 905-356-7521, extension 5004.

Upcoming seminars are scheduled for 6pm to 8pm at the Victoria Avenue Library on July 24, August 14, September 25, October 30 and November 27.

Borrow "Market Research Made Easy" by Don Doman It is simply a process of asking questions or finding existing information about the market, the competition, and potential customers. Also read "The entrepreneurial itch : don't scratch until you read this book " by David Trahair and "Great tips for your small business" by Julie V. Watson.

The next Philosophers' Cafe is scheduled for July 9 at 7:00pm in the Rosberg Gallery of the Victoria Avenue Library. The theme is "What is Power?" Potential avenues of dialogue could include who holds power; power between individuals and groups; are our thoughts powerful.

A Philosophers' Café is a free informal open forum for those interested in exploring philosophical questions in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The purpose of the café is nothing less than to help transform the world one conversation at a time. No philosophical training is required - real life experience desired. A philosopher exists in all of us.

The philosopher facilitators will be Jim Agar and Keith Graves. The Philosophers' Café "is free and open to all. Please come and bring a friend. Public libraries have always been gathering places that have given birth to new, innovative and radical ideas. These conversations are light on structure and heavy on dialogue and participation.

The following library books indicate many aspects of power.
