Monday evening October 26, in the LaMarsh Room we are offering the first of two presentations offering tips for retirement planning and financial security. Lance Wiebe, our speaker for this Financial series is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Mechanical Engineering. After 20 years in industry, he switched careers and obtained his certification in Financial Planning and diplomas in Canadian Securities, Insurance Licensing and the Certified Senior Advisor designation. With these credentials, Lance has given seminars to a variety of industries, business organizations, libraries and not for profit organizations to help educate attendees on financial matters.

“Whether you are in your 20’s or your 90’s, you should not be intimidated by learning the basics of Financial Planning, the more informed you are the better the decision you can make for yourself and your family” says Wiebe “I am constantly learning better planning techniques in this ever changing Financial world and I enjoy passing this information on”. The first session will cover planning fundamentals for the over 50’s. Call the Victoria Avenue Library at 905-356-8080 to reserve a seat. The session begins at 7pm.

Our next Big Screen Tuesday on October 27 at 7pm, at the Victoria Avenue Library, features a Las Vegas set comedy centered around three groomsmen who lose their about-to-be-wed buddy during their drunken misadventures, and then must retrace their steps to find him. The movie has a 14A rating. Please call the library or check the website for more details.

Thursday October 29, from 6:30 to 7:30pm, Moms & Dads are invited to come along with the kids for Family Fun Story Time. The theme based program is a celebration of stories, songs, a craft and short film. This month’s theme is Creepy Crawly Story Time. Mark your calendar for the last Thursday of the month for a program the family can enjoy together.
On Saturday, October 31 all branches will be hosting their own annual Halloween Costume Parade and Party. It’s another opportunity to wear that special costume, and the kids and staff have a great time. Call the branches to register and for more information.

As Ontario Public Library week wraps up, you still have time to come in today and enter the scavenger hunt and draw. If you have not visited one of our libraries recently, come in and discover what’s new!
