There's no doubt about it, summer is nearly over. It's Labour Day weekend already, the kids are back to school on Tuesday. The Library will be closed Labour Day Monday and then our regular hours of operation resume in all four libraries next week. When the library is closed, you can use the book returns at all locations to return your items. The library website www.nflibrary.ca is available at any time to manage your membership details, search the catalogue, and place reservations.

Our Amnesty Day last Saturday, August 29th was successful. More than 220 borrowers came in with their overdue items and had their fines waived or made donations to Project Share.

Fall programming is set to begin in all Branches for adults and children. Details are on the website by department, and most children's program registration is linked right there for you to sign up on the spot! The new children's brochure can be downloaded from the Kid's Corner webpage, if you have not yet been in to the library to pick one up.

There are still some openings in our Book discussion groups for the next session. Call the Victoria Avenue library for information and availability. Most groups start towards the end of the month, so there is still time to get that first title read.

Beginner computer classes will resume, on Monday and Tuesday evenings, commencing the week of the 14th of September. The fee is $10 and payable at registration. For more information or details of the classes offered contact any library.

The Rosberg Gallery features the Niagara Falls Camera Club for the month of September. Its the annual showcase of the member's talents. The NF Camera Club meets at the Victoria Avenue library on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. New members are always welcome.

On Tuesday September 8, at 7pm – Big Screen Tuesdays is featuring a treat for Star Trek fans, with the most recent adventure – set before the "original series". Kirk and Spock are newly graduated Cadets and sent on their first mission. Please note, if you are wondering at the way we always introduce our Tuesday movies in this column; our license does not allow us to "name" the movies – outside of the Library. Please call or check our website for more information on upcoming features.

The English Conversation Circle will resume the Monday after Labour Day. No registration is required, just drop by, Mondays between 6:30 and 8pm. The program is geared for new English speakers to practise the language.
