Big Screen Tuesday returns to the Victoria Avenue Library on Tuesday March 27th with the 2012 action thriller Haywire. The film directed by Oscar winner Steven Soderbergh (Traffic) boasts a talented cast including Gina Carano, Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas and Michael Fassbender. Freelance “black ops” agent Mallory Kane is hired out by her handler to various global entities to perform jobs which governments can't authorize and heads of state would rather not know about. After a mission to rescue a hostage in Barcelona, Mallory is quickly dispatched on another mission to Dublin. When the operation goes awry and Mallory finds she has been double crossed, she needs to use all of her skills, tricks and abilities to escape an international manhunt, make it back to the United States, protect her family, and exact revenge on those that have betrayed her. The film has received positive reviews from critics as a fast and spare thriller. It’s rated 14A and the action begins at 7pm. Children...

Box Office Tuesday @ Chippawa for March 20th features the return of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. This 2011 film directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Jared Harris, as Sherlock and his long time associate Dr. Watson once again match wits with their arch nemesis, Moriarty. In this sequel to the popular 2009 production, with largely the same cast, our hero is looking into a series of crimes all over Europe while Watson is about to be married, which of course makes him and his intended, a target for the villain. Once again the leading men deliver lively performances that carry the film. It’s rated PG and start time is 5:45pm. Make note that the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month are the dates for Chippawa movies. Please check www.nflibrary.ca, or call us at 905-295-4391 or 905-356-8080 to find out the title of the next movie being featured.
