You now have the option to pay your library charges online using a credit card or bank account. It’s fast, simple, convenient and secure.
Here’s what you need to do:
Visit the library’s website at
www.nflibrary.ca
. Click on “Pay Balance Online” under “Borrower Services” in the right side column. Enter your library card and PIN number. A PIN number may have been given to you at registration. If not, come into the library to get one. Or telephone or email us if you have already given us your email address and we’ll email your PIN number to you. Review the balance due and modify your payment amount if desired. Proceed to PayPal to complete the payment. Print the receipt for your records. Payments will appear in Borrower Services - Payment History within minutes. On rare occasions, factors beyond our control may delay payment and require manual processing by library staff. The Honeymoon Letters
By Joe Longo on
Tuesday, September 16, 2008
In 1993 the Niagara Falls Review and the Niagara Gazette jointly sponsored a contest called “Golden Honeymoon Memories”. Readers from about 700 newspapers were invited to send in reminiscences of their honeymoon in Niagara Falls. Entries poured in from across North America and the grand prize was awarded to Bill and Elly Ryan of Saskatoon who honeymooned in Niagara Falls in 1954. Once the contest was over the Honeymoon Letters were donated to our Library. Our Systems Administrator Jan Leak has made them now available online for all to read. Visit www.nflibrary.ca/nfplindex and search in the References Database under the keywords
“Honeymoon Letters”
. The letters not only provide an insight into people’s lives but document the social history of the time. War time letters are particularly poignant. Stories of travelling on the Cayuga from Toronto in wild, stormy weather,...

Register for Children's Programs
By Joe Longo on
Tuesday, September 09, 2008
Register soon for the popular Fall children’s programs which start Sept. 22 at our four libraries.
Bouncin' Baby Time: Mommy & Me & Books consists of music, rhymes, tickles and bounces for children four to eleven months of age. Bring a blanket and let us introduce you and your baby to a variety of board books and activities. This program is about twenty to thirty minutes in length and runs six weeks for only $3. Great toys are provided. Stay awhile afterwards to meet and socialize with other new parents. Due to limited space, no other siblings may attend.
The "Baby Time: Beginning With Books" program for children 12 to 23 months of age and the "Toddler Time: Growing With Books" program for two year olds are thirty minute one-on-one interactive programs designed for a parent or care-giver to enjoy with a child by exploring stories, songs and music. Fingerplays and lap games are part of the Toddler Time programs. It costs $3 for Baby Time for the six weeks and $4 for Toddler Time's...

Borrow Video Games
By Joe Longo on
Thursday, September 04, 2008
Video games can now be borrowed free of charge at the Victoria Avenue Library. We currently have about 80 to choose from in four formats - Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3. More are on order. Adult cards only can be used for a seven day loan period with a one week renewal if no one has placed a reserve. Only two games may be borrowed on one card. There is a $1 per day overdue fine. Because of the small number available with the majority of games usually out of the library at any time, you are encouraged to reserve what you want on the catalogue of our website www.nflibrary.ca . They can be picked up at any of our four libraries. Even though we have not publicized this new collection until now, video games are being borrowed about 170 times a month. Until a sizable collection is established, the collection consists mainly of educational, role playing, family-entertainment and self-improvement titles. Xbox 360 games include FIFA Soccer 08, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , Kung Fu Panda, Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga, Lost, Madden NFL 08, NBA live 08, NHL 08, Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End, Shrek the Third, The Spiderwick Chronicles , Tiger Woods PGA tour 08 and Tony Hawk's Proving Ground....
