Summer Children's Programs
By Joe Longo on
Monday, May 26, 2008
More than a thousand children are expected to once again join our two summer reading clubs which run from June 21 to Aug. 15. Registration starts today and continues all summer at our four libraries and the cost is only $2. Youngsters will be rewarded by strengthening their reading skills while school is out , enjoying some great books and attending an end of summer party for those who finish reading ten books. “Your Brain Under Construction: Boost It, Build It, Tune It Up” is the summer reading club is for children 6 years and older or those who are reading on their own. As you read through your books, you can build our giant brain. Children who complete the program will receive an invitation to the end of summer party on Aug. 21 when a private secret movie screening will be held that morning at Niagara Square Cinemas. The Read-To-Me Club program “Building With Books ” is for 3 to 6 year olds who are emerging readers. This is a special opportunity for parents to spend time reading with their young children. ...

City Celebrates Queen Victoria
By Joe Longo on
Monday, May 26, 2008
Niagara Falls celebrates Queen Victoria in more ways than just a long holiday weekend. The Image Database on our library website shows a photograph of the Queen Victoria Memorial Fountain formerly at the corner Main Street and Lundy's Lane. See it there at
www.nflibrary.ca/nfplindex/show.asp?id=96352
The City’s Centennial book “Images of a Century” has a photo of a house built in 1900 called Victoria Place which became the home of the Niagara Falls Club from 1951 until 1986; the Victoria Avenue Arena in 1925; the Victoria Hall Hotel in 1890; Victoria Motors Ltd. automotive dealership in 1951; and the Victoria Park Railway Station built in 1885. Business logos on library website
By Joe Longo on
Monday, May 05, 2008
Businesses and organizations can now have their logo and a link to their website added to the library’s popular website. In a month there are more than 150,000 visits to our informative and helpful website with over 175,000 pages viewed by visitors.
Featured sponsors will be added on our Home Page at
www.nflibrary.ca
, on our Historic Niagara Digital Collections at
www.nflibrary.ca/nfplindex
and on each of its 280,000 pages.
The high number of daily visitors to our library website is because it is such a large and significant website which is fully indexed by Google.
The cost is $200 per month. The Niagara Falls Public Library Board reserves the right to reject any application. Businesses or organizations must supply a medium to high resolution digital image of your logo and a URL to link to your website. Contact Chief Librarian Joe Longo for more information
