“To be or not to be, that is the question”. For average teenager Mina Hamilton the question is “Do I want to become a vampire or not” and it isn't one she wants to deal with. Mina is a typical teenager, she hangs out with her bestest ever friend Serena, they spend their time doing typical teenage things. Sighing over the school jock, buying trendy outfits (once Mina has gotten Serena over her goth phase) and hanging out at the pizza place.
But all is not as it seems. Apparently Mina's parents forgot to tell the Regional Vampire Council that they had a child, and they are insisting that Mina must make a choice. Her crazy Uncle Mortie has been chosen as her guide to all things vampire and she has to attend vampire school. Funnily enough the students at vampire school are just as crazy as the ones at non-vampire schools (you know who I'm talking about, don't you?).
My favorite thing about the book is that it continually throws you curveballs. Pauley has a clear idea of vampirism and it isn't what we expect, which is what makes it so exciting and refreshing. It's an unique idea. Plus, it has three hot guys in it. Yep. That helps. Also really liked how each chapter started out with a myth and facts about vampires, especially because Mina usually inserted a sarcastic comment. Mina's character is very lovable, she can be sarcastic as mentioned prior, but she is not hurtful. It was fun to read along as Mina dealt with her confusion regarding the vampire and boy issues in her life.
A light hearted witty read written diary style. Recommended for all vampire lovers, especially those with a sense of humour.
